Competent knowledge managers can provide this information to the advantage of the organization or business. An overwhelming amount of information therefore needs to be organized for ease of reference-uch as a database. Knowledge management has ties to several management strategies. Knowledge managers must be able to incorporate all the information from all management approaches and practices; and be on top of the organization's weaknesses and strengths to be able to administer accurate and effective responses. As more businesses and organizations are using their intellectual assets, newer and relevant approaches are created. Astute knowledge managers reengineer the business processes using the accumulated information and other relevant technical data obtainable. This new direction in information management makes use of the knowledge available in the different layers of the business. As information technologies grow rapidly with accompanying complexities, knowledge managers has to keep pace. This is the central focus of a knowledge manager-to keep abreast with the changes in order to manage effectively the intellectual property of the company. Organizations are appreciating the value of information are acknowledging this as vital to the organizations growth and survival. The job requires technical aptitude, keen judgment, and great management and organizational skills. Knowledge specialists use focused dialogue and interactive media forms to help the staff accept their responsibilities as well as help them see the bigger picture. Using company information these specialists can translate the company goals, values, and vision into more meaningful presentation that can be appreciated by a corporate community. This effort will help people appreciate their contribution to the accomplishments of their organization. Knowledge managers need to understand how the company is running, how well or bad it is faring. They will use all the information available and translate it to knowledge-making it more meaningful and thereby useful to all concerned. |
